PRINCIPALS OF WINDSOR & ASSOCIATES

Deb Windsor

Deb Windsor, President of Windsor & Associates, imparts nearly twenty years of experience in financial management. As Director/Division Controller of the $40 million Payment Systems Division of the Fortune 500 Dial Corp subsidiary, Travelers Express, Deb managed all financial functions. These functions included strategic planning, profitability measurement, pricing and performance reporting. Prior to Travelers Express, Deb directed all planning functions as Manager of Planning and Analysis for a $3 billion financial institution for five years. Deb developed a comprehensive system that provided for cash flow management, interest rate risk management, investment portfolio management along with pro-forma financial projections.

Currently, Deb performs the role of Chief Financial Officer for small businesses.

In addition to business plan construction and pro-forma modeling skills, Deb has extensive experience in the development and implementation of performance measurement techniques. Proper resource allocation can be identified and opportunities highlighted utilizing such tools as activity-based costing. Deb has constructed profitability measurement tools for several entities from a single product line within a bank to a full company profitability database. The resulting profitability information was utilized to identify unprofitable business segments, highlight excess capacity, indicate required re-pricing and facilitate the changes in pricing strategy. Deb also brings systems development skills along with tool construction. She has designed and implemented systems for unit costing, internal funds transfer pricing, responsibility center accounting, profitability analysis, and management reporting.

A key role that Deb performs within Windsor & Associates is to identify where the client is making money and how to make more. Utilizing performance measurement tools, the success of current strategies is measured. Armed with this information, Deb works with a company to construct the strategies that will deliver the impact defined by its vision. The Windsor & Associates’ team works with the client to define actions, adjust strategic plans, complement plan execution, and measure success.

Deb completed a Masters in Business Administration with a finance concentration from the University of Minnesota in 1989. She obtained a Bachelors of Business Administration with majors in accounting and information systems in 1982 from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Deb obtained certification in public accounting in 1983.

In 1998, the Small Business Administration awarded the state Women in Business Advocate of the Year title to Deb. Deb has also served as a board member of the Minnesota Entrepreneurs Club and the District Seminar Chairperson for Minnesota SCORE. Deb has written several articles for magazines including Minnesota Business & Opportunities, Ventures, and Irwin’s The Community Banker.
